Do US and Canadian citizens need a visa for Colombia?
US and Canadian citizens generally do not require a visa for tourism stays of up to 90 days. Clients should keep proof of return or onward travel available for immigration checks on arrival.
What is Check-MIG, and do I need it?
Check-MIG is Colombia's free online migration pre-registration. Migración Colombia currently describes it as optional and available from 72 hours to 1 hour before travel. It can help expedite migration processing. Direct clients to the official site and advise them to recheck the guidance before departure, as requirements have changed over time.
Do Canadian visitors pay an entry fee?
Canadian tourists are generally subject to an entry fee of COP 270,000 for 2026. Exemptions include travelers under 14 or over 79, valid Colombian visa holders, and visitors whose final destination is San Andrés, Providencia or Santa Catalina. Clients should check Migración Colombia's current fee and exemptions before travel and keep any payment receipt.
Do I need vaccines?
Vaccination advice and certificate requirements depend on clients' route and travel history. Yellow fever is a concern in parts of Colombia, with certificates potentially checked in high-risk areas. Clients should consult a travel clinic four to six weeks before departure and review Colombian health and consular guidance. If advised, vaccination should be arranged at least 10 days before entering the relevant area, with the certificate carried. Mosquito-bite precautions remain necessary.
